Hail is a dirty word to farmers and we came pretty close to getting some this evening. A severe storm was coming right at us with the tornado warning sirens going off and everything. We went out to my sister in laws basement to wait it out but fortunately for us the storm passed to our south. Someone got pounded though. The news showed reports of golfball and larger hail in a lot of areas.
Hail can cause more damage than anything else except perhaps a late freeze. In 15 mins it can totally ruin your crops and there is not a thing you can do about it. It really reminds you how out of control you really are and how much you need the Lord. Last year we had a bad hail come through and in just a few minutes it destroyed 90 percent of the apple crop. A whole years work down the drain. I sure hope we don't see a repeat performance this year.
