2003-05-08 - 12:34 p.m. I once heard an old saying about a recipe for successfull farming, it went something like this: One part rain, Two parts sunshine, Three parts prayer. I don't know who wrote this but he sure knew about growing things. We've had rain most all this week, so much of it our recipe this week should read: Generous amounts of rain and Pray the hail don't come. The area around here has been hit by one violent storm after another. Sue, Liz and Becky spent most of Tuesday afternoon in my Mother-in-Laws basement. We have one of those severe weather sirens about 100 yards away from our house and it went off so much on Tuesday I'm just now getting my hearing back. So far everything is still in one piece and Lord willing we'll still have a crop when this is over. They say we could have another round of storms today but not as numerous or violent. Boy, I sure hope they're right, three days of this is enough. I've measured about 5 inches of rain in the last three days with most of that comming Tuesday. Well, let me get a bite of lunch and get back to work.
