A rainy day every now and then is sure an enjoyable thing. After over 5 weeks of almost no rain it was sure a pleasure to sit inside and watch it come down. It started off around lunch with a nice, soft, steady rain, and then ended the day with a downpour. I made my pilgrimage out to the raingauge and found it measured a little over 2 1/2 inches. Now that was a nice rain. I used to pray for rain but I don't do that too much any more. I've discovered over the years that my view of things is pretty limited. I generally just ask for what I want without thinking how that may effect others. Rain that may be good for me might ruin someone else's hay that's drying in the field. So more and more I just try to thank the Lord and ask Him to do what's best. In the book of Ecclesiasties 5: 1-2 it says, "Keep thy foot when thou goest to the house of God, and be more ready to hear, than to give the sacrifice of fools: for they consider not that they do evil. Be not rash with thy mouth, and let not thine heart be hasty to utter any thing before God: for God is in heaven, and thou upon earth: therefore let thy words be few." In a nutshell, this means to me that God has the highground and can see a lot further than I can, so I best keep quiet and listen, lest I look pretty foolish.
