The farm family lost a member last week. Mr. Herschel Crowder died at the age of 87. Mr. Crowder was Levada Mabry's father and Jim Mabry's father in law. He was a fixture here at the farm and even when he lost his foot to a horse accident he recovered and would be out mowing the pastures for Jim in the summer.

Mr. Crowder was a rare kind of man to find these days. You knew exactly where you stood with him. If he liked you, you knew it and if he didn't he let you know. I didn't always agree with everything Mr.Crowder said or did but he was consistant. He didn't try to change to suit who was around him. He was the same with everyone, everywhere.

Jesus said there will be no secrets at the last judgement. Whatever you have said or done in secret will be shouted from the rooftops and all will come to light. I don't make any claims to judging hearts but I doubt many hidden things will come to light from Mr.Crowders life, he put his opinions out there for all to see whether you liked them or not.

Of all the things Jesus disapproved of hypocracy was the worst. The word for hypocrite in the New Testament was used of actors who put on a mask to appear to be something they were not. Mr. Crowder didn't wear different masks depending on who he was around. Like him or hate him you took him as he was.

He will be missed here.
