We're offically in a moderate drought. We broke out the irrigation hoses and set up the pump at the spring. I had to pump down the spring hole and climb in the water and clean out all the leaves and sticks that have built up over the last couple of years. That is not a fun job! After we got the pump running we laid out the hoses to the corn and set up the irrigation gun. When I ran up the pressure on the line the pump developed a leak at a seal and I had to fix it. Then I had to run water through the gun with the nozzels off to get any trash out. I added another section of hose when I ran the gun this morning and It had a major hole in the line. Boy it sure is easier when the Lord sends rain!!
Between all the setup and repairs on the irrigation I wind up wet half the day. I never seem to get as wet as when I fool with irrigation during a drought. Everything else may be dry but I'm good and soggy. They say we have rain chances all next week but showers have a habit of missing us so I guess I'll keep watering.
