I've been picking spaghetti squash on and off for a while. This spring we were going to plant a bunch of yellow and zucchini squash and only a couple of spaghetti squash. Sue let Becky plant the seeds and obviously something happened. When the plants came up everything looked good. As they kept growing I began to notice that a lot of the plants started getting long runners on them. Yellow and zucchini squash don't do this so I got a little nervous.

I let the plants grow and after a little while longer it became clear that we had a LOT! of spaghetti squash plants. I went ahead and let them grow and now I've been picking hundreds of spaghetti squash. We've sold quite a few but it looks like the chickens will be eating them all winter. The lesson is to check your seed before you plant, it's too late after the plants come up.
