I woke up this morning to temps hovering right at freezing. I guess this will end the tomatoes and peppers for the year. I went out last evening and picked a bunch of just turning tomatoes and a basket of peppers so Sue would have some to use for a while. Other than eggs this should just about finish us up for the year on sales.

The eggs have sold pretty well. Not as well as expected, but good enough to count the venture a success so far. We'll see how well the sales of eggs hold up through the winter. I've got to add some new shavings to their building soon so they'll have new stuff to dig in.

We finally got the new pasture board horses to be respectful of electric fence. We move the horses to a new part of the pasture about once a week. We divide the pasture with a single strand of temporary electric fence wire with step in posts. The pasture horses we have now are a bit younger than what we have had in the past. They got where they were breaking through the wire on a pretty regular basis. I had to shut down other parts of the fence to get the section holding them really hot. This seems to have had the desired effect and they're back to acting more respectful of it now.

The nanny goat Sue was milking has gone dry and they're aren't any others she can milk right now so I've had to go back to buying milk. I don't mind that one bit. I enjoyed the goat cheese but I never got used to the taste of the milk. Everyone else liked it, in fact Becky got to where she liked it better than cow's milk. I just never took a shine to it though so my milk consumption was about zero for the last year. I sure do like seeing that gallon jug from the store.
