About the latest it frosts here is April 15th but somebody must have forgot to turn the page on the calendar. Here it is the 23rd and the forecast is for a temperature tonight of 36 and tomorrow night of 34. The wind is supposed to blow tonight so we should be okay but tomrrow night is going to be interesting. I plan on getting up around 4:00AM both mornings and checking the temperature at ground level. If it looks like frost is forming I'll drag Sue and Liz out of bed and we'll see what we can save. All yesterday afternoon we spent covering tomato plants and getting ready. Today we finished protecting what we can with covers and getting our equipment ready to go. The plan is for all three of us to use a backpack blower to stir up the air and prevent frost from forming. If the air temp is not too low this should work but I've never really tried it before. I had one blower of my own and a friend of mine with a lawn care company loaned me 2 others(Thanks Drex!!). The tomatoes are all covered with either a comercial version of wall-of-waters for the smaller plants or my own thought up contraption for the larger plants. If my covering works I'll post some pictures on the website. To give you a hint. it involves stretch wrap, feed sacks and 1 gallon ziplock bags. You'll just have to wait to see.
