Well we escaped any damage from last weeks cold weather. I got up at 2:00AM last Monday morning (April 25th) and was expecting to see temps in the mid thirties but the temp was at 39 degrees and a light breeze was blowing. I stayed up the rest of the night and checked the garden a couple of times each hour but the breeze kept up and the temp bottomed out at 35 degrees at daybreak. I never had to get up Sue and Liz but if the breeze had quit it would have been a different story. We uncovered everything the next day and nothing looked injured.

I travelled about 150 miles Southeast of here Tuesday morning to deliver a female dog of Liz's that was in heat to a Staffy breeder who has a nice stud dog so he could breed her. He told me a different story about Monday morning. He woke up about daybreak to the voice of his wife telling him to look out the window. Frost covered his car and the ground all around was white. The wind had quit and the temp had got to freezing. He went out to his car and it actually had a thick frost/ice mix on the windshield he had to scrape off. Over 100 miles South of us, go figure!!

The cold , wet weather ruined the corn seed I replanted for the second time and I replanted my early sweet corn for the 3rd time on Thursday. The weather reports called for warmer temps this week but now they've lowered their predictions. It looks like we'll have lows in the 40's for the next few nights and highs in the upper 60's to low 70's. It may cause this seed to rot as well and I'mm starting to get a little low on seed. I sure hope it warms up soon.
